Handbell Ringers Practice

Date: Wednesday 18th February 2026
Time: 7:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Venue: Bridlington Priory Church Rooms

Would you like to learn something new whilst having lots of fun? Can you read music and would like to either begin to learn to play, or return to play, the handbells? From popular music to classical, the handbell ringers learn all different styles.

The Bridlington Priory Handbell Ringers came into existence in 1985, following the discovery of nineteen very old handbells in the Priory Church tower. Currently, the team is comprised of nine ringers, plus the musical director, and the original set of nineteen bells has expanded to fifty-five!

“Our repertoire covers a wide range of both classical and popular pieces, from Bach to the Beatles, via Gershwin, Henry Mancini, John Williams and many others. We play in a variety of locations in the Bridlington area and, as members of the national handbell ringers’ organisation, we occasionally have the opportunity to travel to rallies further afield. We would love to have more ringers in the team – apart from a basic ability to read music, the only other qualifications needed are enthusiasm and a sense of humour!”

The Handbell Ringers meet for practice every Wednesday in the Priory Church Rooms.
